Estevan is considered the energy capital of Saskatchewan. Located nearby is the Boundary Dam Power Station and Rafferty-Alameda Dam.
The industries that employ the largest number of people in this riding include agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting; mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction; health care and social assistance; and retail trade. The Shand Power Station, Poplar River Power Station at Coronach, and the Potash mines at Esterhazy and Rocanville are large employers in the region.
Well over half a million tons of grain pass through the Weyburn terminals each year, making it the largest inland grain gathering point in Canada.
