This riding enjoys a very balanced economy despite, or perhaps because of, its proximity to Quebec City, with the military, forestry, mining, tourism and agriculture all significant employment-drivers.
Fromagerie Alexis de Portneuf may be the largest producer of cheese in the riding and one of the province’s largest. The quarry at Saint-Marc-des-Carrières is the second largest in Quebec and has supplied limestone for New York’s City Hall, the Hôtel de Ville in Quebec City, and the iconic Château Frontenac.
