Iqaluit is the capital city of Nunavut and is located 2,090 km from Parliament Hill, as the crow flies. Cape Columbia on Ellesmere Island is the northernmost point of Canada. It sits 4,169 km from Parliament Hill as the crow flies, and has no direct route of travel between the two.
There are no roads to Nunavut. The only way to travel in or out of the territory, year-round, is by plane. A direct flight from Ottawa is just over three hours. During a few months in the summer, once the sea ice has cleared, you can travel by sea.
Iqaluit is the only community with paved roads. In other areas of the territory, people get around within their community on ATVs and trucks in the summer, and by snowmobile in the winter.
