Lakeland is home to Elk Island National Park. The park is home to the densest population of hoofed mammals in Canada. The park is also available for recreation, and in the winter, activities include snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Summer activities include camping, hiking, golfing, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, and wildlife watching.
Residents enjoy the outdoors through activities such as skiing, skating, ice fishing, and snowmobiling; in the summer, camping, fishing, golf, and hiking are popular pastimes. Alberta’s 300 km Iron Horse Trail is a great way to enjoy the outdoors throughout the riding and beyond.
