The riding of Labrador is home to the Red Bay Basque Whaling Station, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Station received its designation because of the level of preservation of its archaeological remains including rendering ovens, a wharf, and underwater whaling vessel wreckages. Basque whalers from France and Spain plied the waters here during the 1500s.
The Goose Bay Airport is home to two major runways, which can accommodate the largest aircrafts in the world. The runways were designated as a secondary landing site for the NASA Space Shuttle.
The riding of Labrador is one of few regions with its own flag, coat of arms, and anthem.
