The Harrow Wind Farm is a 39.6-megawatt project that hosts 24 wind turbines, enough power to serve 12,000 homes.
The Town of Essex has adopted a strategy plan to address climate change. The town is developing and expanding cycling infrastructure and other forms of active transportation, create official policies relating to energy conservation and storm water management, and more.
Bois Blanc Island, commonly called “Boblo Island,” was the scene of a skirmish during the Upper Canada Rebellion. In 1838, a group of Canadian ‘Patriots’ and their American sympathizers landed on the island and forced the small military unit and the lighthouse keeper and his family from the island. The lighthouse still stands and was given heritage status from Parks Canada.
