The Churchill uplands have thin grey soils, rocky and swampy terrain, and a short growing season. The Athabasca Plains are found in the north and are known for wetlands and forest fires.
This riding is home to caribou, moose, black bear, lynx, wolf, beaver, muskrat, snowshoe hare, waterfowl, and the red-backed vole.
