Suffragette and early champion of women’s rights, Nellie McClung, was born in Chatsworth on October 20, 1873. Is also the birthplace of the first woman ever elected as a Member of Parliament – Agnes MacPhail. Born in Proton Township in 1890.
First World War flying ace Billy Bishop and Group of Seven artist Tom Thomson were both residents of Owen Sound.
Flowerpot Island used to have three flowerpot-shaped rock formations, but one of the sea stacks fell down in 1903.
